One of the most attractive and famous places is the Benedictine abbey (highest class monument) in Tyniec. The fortified monastery is built high upon a precious white rock over the Vistula. It is the oldest, nearly 1000 years old, object of its kind in Poland. It was founded in the 11th century by Kazimierz the Restorer. The fortress is raised on the steep hill with secure access to Krakow.
