The hotel's history dates back from 1661, when the Jesuits first settled in Plaza de Mayo. Since then and till 1767 they have been building this block. Its name refers to the intelectual movement that developed among the San Ignacio Church & School. This site would soon be occupied be one of the most prestigious schools in our city: Nacional Buenos Aires. Sieged during the XVII Century, the Jesuits built a network of underground tunnels, communicating all the buildings of this block.
Since 1983, these tunnels can be visited. In this scenario, concentrating the memories and the different stages of the constructions you can enjoy a wide variety of cultural activities, which will allow you to easily understand the history of the heart of Buenos Aires.
